Two MSA air packs were bought in January, and a set of tools were
bought for the engineers to use when working on the trucks. In February
the Annual Dance was held. Membership was to hold at 20 regular members
and 10 reserves. The 12th annual Turkey Raffle was held in
November.
28 fire calls were recorded for the year, including a mattress fire.
The present fire station #1 was completed in September 1964 at a cost
of $47,500 including the land. The furnishing, including the cabinets
and stove in the kitchen, and landscaping was paid for by money earned
by the fireman themselves. A class was held at the United Airlines
hanger at O'Hare field on fire rescue work. A refresher first aid
course was held in February for those with expired cards. The February
annual dance was held. A mobile radio for the International and a new
base station was bought with the proceeds from this year’s dance. In
March, a 1951 Ford Tanker with 2000 gallon capacity was purchased. May
9th saw the ground breaking ceremony for the new fire house on
Algonquin Rd. The 1951 Tanker was rebuilt to suit the needs of the fire
department. In July, work began on the Model T to rejuvenate it.
Members had a painting party at the new station when it was ready. In
August, a 1960 International Step Van was purchased. It was refitted
and painted by the members and used to carry our rescue equipment.
Frank Rudar donated the first load of sod and the tractor for the new
fire house. The 13th annual Turkey Raffle was held in
November. The
tanker was placed in service.
47 fire calls were recorded that year, including a train fire, boat
fire, and search posse.
The Fire Protection District dedicated the new fire house on January
29th, 1965 at 2:00 PM. The February Annual Dance was held again. A new
Inhalator was received this year, and the police station was given our
old base station. The 14th Annual Turkey Raffle was held in
November.
46 fire calls were recorded for the year.
A new siren was purchased in February. In March, a new GMC 750 gpm
pumper was ordered. The 15th Annual Turkey Raffle was held
in November.
56 fire calls were recorded for the year.
In February the annual dance was held, and the 16th annual
Turkey Raffle was held in November.
29 fire calls were recorded for the year, including a tractor accident,
tree fire, and boat fire.
The Annual February Dance was held. Our Chief attended meetings
concerning ambulance services in the county. The firefighters purchased
a new Chevy truck, and finished it as a pumper and grass fire truck. It
was donated to the district by the firefighters. The 17th
annual Turkey
Raffle was held in November.
72 fire calls were recorded this year, including a house fire and a
drowning.
In February, the Sheriff's office announced the new radio numbering
system for the fire departments. Our numbers became Base station - 601,
Chief - 602, and units 603 to 699. The annual Dance was held in March
this year. The 18th Annual Turkey Raffle was held in
November.
46 fire calls were recorded for the year, including a TV fire.
The 19th annual Turkey Raffle was held in November.
44 fire calls were recorded for the year, including 4 house fires, and
a girl stuck in a tree.
A special meeting with the police department was held in January with
regards to duties and procedures to be preformed at the scene of a fire
and inhalator calls. A combined drill with Cary Fire Department was
held in July. The 20th annual Turkey Raffle was held in
November.
35 fire calls were recorded for the year, including an apartment fire
with on fatality.
Sherman hospital advised the department to participate in a program of
Medical Care to be shown at the hospital. The 21st annual
Turkey Raffle was held in November.
59 fire calls were recorded for the year, including and airplane crash
and a drowning.
