The American Legion asked the fire department to participate in the Memorial Day Parade and to bring the Ford truck. The Palatine Fire Department requested us to bring the Model T to Palatine for their parade on August 3rd. A party for the fire department members was held at the Picnic Grove on August 20th. On August 27th, Chief Prokop came up with the idea of a Turkey Raffle to be held around Thanksgiving. A committee was formed. The raffle was not to be held until sometime later.

In July, a dance and bingo game were held to raise money for the fire department. In August it was directed that neither of the fire trucks were to be taken to the city dumps for any fire unless the problem alarm was turned in. It was noted this year that cars following the trucks to fires was a problem. It was decided that one man would be dropped off about 2 blocks or so from the fire to halt traffic.

Chief Johnson talked with representatives from Barrington Countyside in July about proposed fire districts. The first Turkey Raffle was held at the Legion Hall on November 22nd and was a big success.
