Fox River Grove is located in McHenry County approximately 40 miles northwest of Chicago. The Fox River Grove Fire Department is a separate entity from the Village of Fox River Grove and provides Fire, Rescue and Advanced Life Support ambulance services. The Fire Department has two stations and proudly protects approximately 9,000 residents in an area of about 8 square miles covering the Village of Fox River Grove, portions of Barrington Hills and surrounding unincorporated areas of McHenry County.
 
The Fire Department staffs one station 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year with a minimum of 3 personnel. Department personnel are made up of 6 full-time Paramedic/Firefighters and 40 “Paid-on-Call” members consisting of 17 Paramedic/Firefighter and 23 EMT/Firefighters. All members are trained under the State of Illinois Certified Firefighter program and the McHenry Western Lake County Emergency Medical System. Personnel are required to minimally achieve and maintain a Certified Firefighter Level II and Emergency Medical Technician-Basic (EMT-B) status.
 
In 2011, the Fox River Grove Fire Department responded to 556 emergency incidents consisting of 373 medical and 183 fire related calls. Personnel train regularly and pursue continuing education courses in an effort to prepare for any emergency incidents that may be encountered.
